From skipping excitedly beside me,
Holding my hand,
On your way to school for the first time.
You now stroll out of the house,
Without a backward glance at me,
On your way to college for the first time.
Time seems to have shot by,
You no longer skip,
Some things never change thou,
That last hesitate but tight hug goodbye,
Me watching you set off with pride and apprehension.
Even though I know you will totally smash it,
Because you are determined to get out there and embrace all that life has to offer you.
Skipping to strolling,
I see you go,
But you’ll always be my precious child,
No matter where you go,
Or what you do in life.
